Top 5 Android Consumer Finance Apps in Africa: Q2 2021 Performance

During the second quarter of 2021, the top consumer finance applications on the Android platform in Africa showcased varying trends in downloads, revenue, and active users, according to data from Sensor Tower.

Wallet: Budget Expense Tracker by BudgetBakers experienced a stable performance in revenue, starting at about $303 in the first week of April and concluding the quarter with approximately $308. The app saw a noticeable climb in weekly downloads, peaking at around 2.6K by late May. Its active user base grew from 3.5K in early April to nearly 5.5K by the end of June.

Toro Investimentos’ Mobills: Budget Planner displayed fluctuating revenue, with a notable increase to $339 in the second week of May before settling at $184 by the end of June. The app's downloads remained low, with a maximum of 36 in early May. Active user numbers started at 141 in March and showed a slight decline to 117 by the end of June.

1Money: expense tracker budget, developed by Svyatoslav Vlasov, saw consistent revenue, reaching a high of $203 in early April and closing at $177 in June. Downloads peaked at 1.1K in the last week of June, while active users increased from 5.6K in March to over 6.1K by the end of the quarter.

Zaim showed a gradual increase in revenue, starting at $116 and reaching $153 by late June. Unfortunately, data for downloads and active users were not available for this period.

Lastly, Bankin' from Bankin SAS had a more tumultuous quarter. Revenue started at $172, dipped through April, and recovered to $130 by June's end. Downloads spiked at 1.7K in early May but dropped significantly by June. The active user count followed a similar pattern, beginning at 1.7K in late March, peaking in early May, and settling at 1.2K by the end of June.
